GET READY TO SKYDIVE OVER Melbourne!

HOW  TO GET  THERE:

The only beachfront skydive in Melbourne, you’ll find us living our best life along the St Kilda Marina, with St Kilda Skate Park in one direction and the Botanical Gardens in another. About 15-minutes (and just over 6km) from the city centre, St Kilda has been dubbed the region’s favourite beach, which is why our exclusive drop zone is in the perfect place.

There is free parking along the southern end of St Kilda Marina / Southbound side of Marine Parade. Be sure to arrive a few minutes earlier to find a carpark as it can get busy over the holiday periods.

CHECK IN  TIME

Our crew will send through your check in time 1 day prior to your jump. This may be slightly different to the time you originally picked at booking. Please note. this may be due to weather or if there are not enough participants for the time you have booked we may have to move your booking to an alternate time to reduce our carbon footprint on the environment.

Please allow half a day for your skydive experience with us. Due to our popular location, busy airspace (ATC) and road traffic, these can heavily affect our skydiving operations, along with the weather.

WEATHER

We skydive all year round in Melbourne and you can get a different experience every time you jump.

When it comes to weather, it's best to assume you'll be jumping when scheduled, unless our crew contact you directly. Our friendly team will get in touch with you ASAP if there are any changes to your skydive time.

Low cloud cover, heavy rainfall or high winds can all affect your skydive and these will be assessed by our Drop Zone Safety Officer prior to your big jump. If you haven't heard from us, please assume your jump is going ahead and head to the Drop Zone at your scheduled time.

What-to-wear

 What to wear?

You'll need to wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move around in easily. Flat, enclosed shoes are compulsory such as sneakers or joggers. Please do not wear any boots, high heels or slides (this includes Crocs).

If you're jumping early in the morning or in colder weather, we recommend you bring a jumper and long pants to wear during your skydive.

Unfortunately any headwear such as turbans, beanies and hats won't stay on during freefall - so you'll need to leave these in a safe spot with our staff.

If you wear glasses, we can provide special goggles for you to wear during your skydive that will fit over your normal glasses.

We recommend removing all jewellery before your skydive too so it is best to leave it at home.

WEIGHT, AGE AND MEDICAL RESTRICTIONS

We do have surcharges and assessments for participants over 94kgs. Our maximum weight limit at Melbourne is 110kg due to safety restrictions, please call us for more information. You can find out more about weight surcharges here.

You have to be a minimum of 16 years old to skydive in Australia. If you are under 18, you need to fill out this indemnity form. The form must be completed by a parent or legal guardian and their photo ID presented for verification. Without the completed form and their photo ID, you will not be able to skydive.

You must notify us prior to your skydive of any medical conditions, injuries or illnesses. Medical conditions which could affect the customer’s safety should be discussed with a doctor to ensure customers are fit to skydive. If required, bring a medical certificate with you from your doctor confirming you are okay to participate in a skydive.

Spectators & landing

We encourage you to bring along a cheer squad to watch your skydive, it's a big deal! Please note however, your exact landing time cannot be guaranteed. Whilst we endeavour to keep spectators informed about the landing location of your skydive, our priority is ensuring your safety and landing locations can sometimes change last minute.

Landing locations are based on safety and weather conditions. Please have your spectators check with staff to make sure they don't miss your big touchdown. There is plenty of room at the Drop Zone for your crew to hang around - even the 4 legged kind (on leash).

Our landing area is Moran Reserve which is a public park. It is just a short 5 min walk from our check-in office to the south of St Kilda Marina, next to the petrol station.

WHAT ELSE TO EXPECT

Skydiving involves jumping out of a plane (we hope you knew this before booking), and whilst we can't quite describe the unforgettable adrenaline pumping experience that is freefall, there are a few things you can expect.

Equalising - just like when you drive down a hill, and reach altitude in the plane, after freefall your ears may want to equalise. Your tandem instructor can show you how to do this if you get stuck!

You may notice your instructor wearing ear plugs, please note this does not stop ear pain or help with equalising so we do not offer these to customers. Instructors are wearing these as they are around noisy aircraft for long periods of time.

When the parachute deploys, it can be a bit of a jolt - once the parachute is safely deployed your instructor will adjust your straps to make you as comfortable as possible under canopy.

LOCAL AREA INFO

Skydive Melbourne is located in the beautiful beachside playground of St Kila and is only 6km from the city. You'll find everything here from penguins to theme parks, community gardens to fantastic cafes, restaurants and bars.

There are plenty of things to do in the area after your skydive including a visit to Luna Park, take a stroll along the Pier and catch a glimpse of the penguins or enjoy a post skydive bevy at one of the local bars. St Kilda Esplanade Market are also on every Sunday from 10am and are an art and craft makers’ haven.

There's heaps to explore in St Kilda but if you do feel like venturing into Melbourne CBD, you can catch the 96 or 16 trams from St Kilda to Melbourne CBD.
