If you’re making your way from Cairns Airport, we’re about a 15-minute drive along the water following Lake Street and Abbott Street before turning left onto Spence Street. If you can find the Hilton, you’re about 50 metres from our doorstep. If you've booked our free transfer from one the local accommodation options, this will bring you right to the check in office. More info about pick up location can be found [here.](https://page.skydive.com.au/pick-up-locations?hsLang=en) ## CHECK IN  TIME Our crew will send through your check in time 1 day prior to your jump. This may be slightly different to the time you originally picked at booking. Please note. this may be due to weather or if there are not enough participants for the time you have booked we may have to move your booking to an alternate time to reduce our carbon footprint on the environment. ##   Booked a Transfer? Please wait at the pick up point & arrive ten minutes prior to the scheduled pickup time (6:35am for 6:45am pickup). Transfers MUST be booked in advance. More info about your pick up location can be found [here.](https://page.skydive.com.au/pick-up-locations?hsLang=en) Passengers will need to allow approximately 2 hours and will be returned back to their pick up point approximately 10 mins after return back to the office post skydive.  ## WEATHER We skydive all year round in Cairns and you can get a different experience every time you jump.  When it comes to weather, it's best to assume you'll be jumping when scheduled, unless our crew contact you directly. Our friendly team will get in touch with you ASAP if there are any changes to your skydive time.  Low cloud cover, heavy rainfall or high winds can all affect your skydive and these will be assessed by our Drop Zone Safety Officer prior to your big jump. If you haven't heard from us, please assume your jump is going ahead and head to the Drop Zone at your scheduled time.  ![What to wear](https://page.skydive.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/Skydive%20Australia/Skydive%20Australia%20Images/What-to-wear.jpg?width=1000&height=972&name=What-to-wear.jpg "What to wear") ##  What to wear? You'll need to wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move around in easily. Flat, enclosed shoes are compulsory such as sneakers or joggers. Please do not wear any boots, high heels or slides (this includes Crocs).  If you're jumping early in the morning or in colder weather, we recommend you bring a jumper and long pants to wear during your skydive.  Unfortunately any headwear such as turbans, beanies and hats won't stay on during freefall - so you'll need to leave these in a safe spot with our staff. If you wear glasses, we can provide special goggles for you to wear during your skydive that will fit over your normal glasses. We recommend removing all jewellery before your skydive too so it is best to leave it at home.  ## Your Skydive safety briefing Watch our **safety video** before you arrive to familiarise yourself with the experience and what to expect on the day. It only takes a few minutes, and it’ll help you feel confident and ready to take the leap! ## PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! If you are 110 kgs or more you may not be able to skydive due to safety restrictions, please call us for more information. You can find out more about weight surcharges [here.](https://www.skydive.com.au/updates/weight-surcharge/) The minimum age to tandem skydive in Australia is 16 years. If you are under 18, written consent from a parent or legal guardian is required before your jump. A completed [indemnity form](https://expco.au/cnstandc) must be signed by your parent or legal guardian, and valid photo ID must be provided for verification. A parent or legal guardian is strongly recommended to be present at the drop zone on the day of your skydive. If they are unable to attend, please notify us as soon as possible so the correct documents can be arranged and completed in advance. Please note: Without the completed consent form and verified photo ID, you will not be permitted to skydive. You must notify us prior to your skydive of any medical conditions, injuries or illnesses. Medical conditions which could affect the customer’s safety should be discussed with a doctor to ensure customers are fit to skydive. If required, bring a medical certificate with you from your doctor confirming you are okay to participate in a skydive. ## Spectators & landing  We encourage you to bring along a cheer squad to watch your skydive, it's a big deal! Please note however, your exact landing time cannot be guaranteed. Whilst we endeavour to keep spectators informed about the landing location of your skydive, our priority is ensuring your safety and landing locations can sometimes change last minute.  Landing locations are based on safety and weather conditions. Please have your spectators check with staff to make sure they don't miss your big touchdown. There is plenty of room at the Drop Zone for your crew to hang around. We will transfer spectators to the Landing Area to watch your landing.   ## WHAT ELSE TO EXPECT Skydiving involves jumping out of a plane (we hope you knew this before booking), and whilst we can't quite describe the unforgettable adrenaline pumping experience that is freefall, there are a few things you can expect.  Equalising - just like when you drive down a hill, and reach altitude in the plane, after freefall your ears may want to equalise. Your tandem instructor can show you how to do this if you get stuck! You may notice your instructor wearing ear plugs, please note this does not stop ear pain or help with equalising so we do not offer these to customers. Instructors are wearing these as they are around noisy aircraft for long periods of time.  When the parachute deploys, it can be a bit of a jolt - once the parachute is safely deployed your instructor will adjust your straps to make you as comfortable as possible under canopy.  ## LOCAL AREA INFO Skydive Cairns is located at the gateway to Queensland's tropical north. The region of Cairns is home to the iconic Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest World Heritage Site. The city of Cairns itself is rich with brilliant cafés, bustling markets and plenty of beaches only a short drive away. The Cairns lagoon is a 3 minute walk from our office on the Esplanade where you can relax, take in the views and enjoy the tropics.
